Mr. Joe Sheppard

Hello, I am Mr. Sheppard and I would like to welcome you to Social Studies!

I am excited to show you how understanding history, geography, economics, and civics are essential for any future career. 

I am originally from northern Maine, but went to Skidmore College in upstate New York and received a degree in History. Before I started my career in education, I worked in the legal field. I quickly realized that I wanted to teach, and share my passion for history and social studies with other Mainers. 

Outside of the classroom, my hobbies include playing guitar, traveling, cooking, spending time with my family, or getting outside. In the winter, my favorite way to be outside is skiing, and in the summer I love to ride my bike. During the fall and spring, I try to hike in Acadia National Park as much as I can (when the tourists aren’t there!) 

I am so glad to be here at Region 10, and cannot wait to show you how awesome social studies can be!
