Our Pre-School

Real-World Application

Our Early Childhood Education program includes a unique and highly relevant hands-on component: the on-site pre-school. This pre-school serves as a practical training ground where students can directly apply their classroom knowledge in real-world situations, interacting with young children under the supervision of experienced educators. Students gain invaluable experience by working with children, honing essential skills in classroom management, lesson planning, and child assessment in a controlled, supportive environment. Observing child behavior and development firsthand deepens their understanding of theoretical concepts and provides immediate, practical insights.

Preschool Teacher

Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

About the Instructor

Meg Blake is the Early Childhood Education instructor at Region 10 Technical High School. With 25 years of experience as a preschool teacher, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role. Meg holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Education. She is deeply passionate about the importance of early childhood education, highlighting the critical nature of these formative years for children’s development. Her teaching philosophy centers on hands-on learning and creating a nurturing environment.

Her program offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience by working three days a week in the Community Preschool program, which caters to children aged 3-5 from the local area. This program adheres to the Maine Learning and Developmental Standards and emphasizes the significance of play in early childhood learning. Beyond her professional life, Meg enjoys spending time with her family and loves outdoor activities such as gardening and hiking. She often incorporates her love of nature into the classroom, providing a rich and engaging learning experience for her students.
