Pre-Engineering Program to Start This Fall!

“Project Lead The Way”  Coming To Region 10 Technical High School:

Nationally Renowned Pre-Engineering Program for High School Students to Begin this Fall at Region 10 Tech

Region 10 Technical High School is most excited to offer its new pre-engineering program--Project Lead the Way: Introduction to Engineering Design-- this coming school year.

Project Lead The Way students can expect a rigorous, challenging, and highly engaging combination of applied, hands-on learning and academic study. Examples of units in the Introduction to Engineering Design Program include Modeling Skills, Reverse Engineering, Advanced Computer Modeling, and Design Challenges, which have students apply what they have learned to real-life engineering scenarios.

Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization created by engineers and educators to create highly engaging and effective pathways for students interested in STEM careers and/or related post-secondary education.  Through established, active partnerships with engineering departments at schools such as Purdue, Duke, and RIT, PLTW students often enjoy significant advantages in college acceptance, advanced placement and course substitution consideration, scholarship awards, and career placement.

Students interested in applying for the PLTW Introduction to Engineering Design at Region 10 Tech should email Region 10 director Nancy Weed at weed@r10tech.org and contact their guidance counselors at the beginning of the school year this September to express interest. The program is open to students in the 9th through the 12th grades. To be eligible, students must meet general criteria for acceptance into Region 10 Tech programs. Additionally, students must have satisfactorily completed Algebra One or must be enrolled in Algebra One this coming school year.
