Police: Armed man robbed China store

CHINA (AP) — Police in Maine are searching for a man who they say robbed a convenience store at gunpoint.

Authorities say the robbery happened around 4:30 a.m. Sunday in China. Police say an armed man wearing a black hooded jacket and mask entered a Circle K store and demanded cash. Authorities say the suspect fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money.

Jurors return in trial of deputy accused of abusing girls

AUGUSTA (AP) — A jury is scheduled to resume deliberations in the trial of a onetime “Deputy of the Year” who’s charged with sexually abusing three girls in Maine.

Jurors began deliberating Friday in the trial of Kenneth Hatch. A judge sent them home for the weekend before getting back to work Monday.

According to the Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Office, Edward “Ted” Berrett, 70, who lives along on Beaver Brook Road in West Bath, not been heard from since Friday and had failed to attend several appointments.
